Hero MotoCorp seems to have revealed the Hero
Destini 125 (aka Hero Duet 125) at a dealership conference this week. Earlier
this week, Hero MotoCorp rechristened the Duet 125 as the Destini 125. Hero MotoCorp showcased the Hero
Duet 125 at the Auto Expo 2018 alongside the Hero Maestro Edge 125. The Destini
125 will rival the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125 and the Vespa LX 125
among others.
The Hero Destini 125 will be positioned as a premium
family scooter and will sit above the Hero Duet 110 in the company’s Indian
portfolio. It features Hero’s patented i3S (Idle Stop-Start System) technology,
which helps in delivering higher fuel economy. The Destini 125 will come in
four colour options - Chestnut Bronze, Noble Red, Pearl Silver White, and
Panther Black.
The Hero Destini 125 employs a 124.6 cc,
single-cylinder, air-cooled, Energy Boost engine that is tuned to generate 8.70
bhp of maximum power at 6,750 rpm along with a peak torque of 10.2 Nm at 5,000
rpm, mated to a CVT gearbox. The scooter is likely to carry a price tag of
around INR 52,000 (ex-showroom).
The Hero Destini 125 comes with an all-metal body,
outer fuel-filler cap, boot light and mobile charging port. The scooter comes
loaded with features like an Integrated Braking System, semi-digital instrument
cluster with service due indicator, dual-tone mirrors, and tubeless tires.
Telescopic forks suspend the under-bone chassis at the front along with a
spring-loaded hydraulic damper at the rear.
The Hero Destini 125 rides on 10-inch alloy wheels
at both the ends, that wrap 90/100-section tubeless tires. Anchorage comes from
130 mm drum brakes at the front and back. The two-wheeler has a fuel tank
capacity of 5.5 litres, while it tips the scales at 111.5 kg. The Destini 125
measures 1809 mm in length, 729 mm in width and 1154 mm in height, while it
gets a wheelbase of 1245 mm. The scooter has a ground clearance of 155 mm,
along with a top speed of 85 kph.
