Earlier this year, Mercedes C-Class engineer Christian
Frueh himself stated that a bespoke electric sedan will eventually join the EQ
range, and based on what we’ve learned since then, we know that it won’t look
very similar to the C-Class. While the EQ C and GLC do have a “close link”, some future EQ models
will have “a more distinct design,” said Mercedes EQ sales and marketing boss,
Jorg Heinermann in an interview with Autocar.
We can only hope that among those different-looking
models will be the compact sports sedan, because the alternative is something
more along the lines of this render by Kleber Silva, who pasted the EQ C’s
front fascia on the current-generation C-Class sedan. A new set of wheels is
also present, but none of the changes are enough so as to create any
significant change between the two designs.
However, since Mercedes intends on keeping its EQ
range distinct from the more conventional models, we’re pretty sure that the
finished item won’t look anything like this C-Class rendering. Which, no matter
whether you think it works or not, is a good thing for mainstream Mercs and EVs
alike.
