The new Mercedes A-Class can now be ordered in Saloon bodystyle if you live in the UK, with customers offered a choice of one diesel and one petrol engine from launch. Prices for the new Mercedes A-Class Saloon in the UK start from £ 27,875 for the A 180 d Sport, and £ 28,095 for the A 200 Sport. Both models come fitted with a seven-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The new model is available in two trim options: Sport and AMG Line. Sport models come with twin seven-inch displays featuring the latest MBUX operating system and its advanced voice activation system, comfort suspension, DAB radio, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Keyless Go, Artico and Fléron fabric upholstery and more. AMG Line models benefit from 18-inch AMG wheels, a more aggressive body kit, a three-spoke sports steering wheel and Artico and Dinamica microfibre upholstery.

Customers will be offered a number of option packages, including the £ 1,395 Executive package, which replaces the seven-inch infotainment display with a bigger 10.25-inch unit and adds Active Parking Assist, heated front seats and more. If you want the full version of the twin-display setup, you’ll have to opt for the £ 2,395 Premium package, which adds the second 10.25-inch display in the instrument binnacle for that lovely widescreen effect, along with 64-color ambient lighting, a better audio system and more.

The A 180 d is powered by a 1.5-liter diesel unit with 114 hp and 260 Nm of torque. Mercedes says it returns a combined 68.9mpg UK (4.1l/100km) and emits 110g/km of CO2. The base diesel version of the new A-Class Saloon can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 10.5 seconds and top out at 206 km/h.

The A 200 uses the new turbocharged 1.3-liter petrol unit, that here produces 161 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Fuel economy is rated at a combined 51.4 mpg UK (5.2l/100km), with CO2 emissions of 119g/km. 0-100 km/h comes in 8.1 seconds while top speed is 230 km/h.

Mercedes also took the chance and added two new models to the regular A-Class hatchback model; these include the A 220, powered by a turbo 187hp 2.0-liter petrol, and the A 220 4Matic, which sends its power to all four wheels. The new A 220 Hatchback is available in AMG Line only. Mercedes has now opened the order books for the new A-Class Saloon, with first deliveries to arrive from early 2019.
