Nissan has launched a new version of the Qashqai,
their best-selling vehicle in Europe, powered by a more powerful 1.5-liter
diesel unit that got over 90 percent of its components updated.
The 1.5-liter dCi engine now produces 5 PS more, at
115 PS, while torque remains the same, at 260 Nm. However, it
now features a new overboost function that adds an extra 5 PS and 25 Nm of torque for up to 15 seconds on a wide-open throttle.
The
updated Qashqai 1.5 dCi will return up to 74.3 mpg UK (3.8 lt/100 km, 61.9 mpg
US) and emit as low as 100g/km of CO2. The engine’s upgraded components
include the oil cooler, oil filter, dual mass flywheel, vacuum pump and
high-pressure fuel pump. Nissan has also added Selective Catalytic Reduction
technology, with an AdBlue tank to reduce NOx emissions and meet the latest
Euro 6d-Temp standard.
Other highlights of Nissan’s compact SUV include the
ProPilot semi-autonomous system, which combines active safety tech like Lane
Keep Assist, Intelligent Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Pilot. The updated
Qashqai 1.5 dCi will go on sale in the UK this month.
