Perodua has officially introduced the 2018 Alza
facelift, the debut of the seven-seater not unexpected following its reveal in
the company’s Merdeka greeting.
The compact MPV is available is Standard (MT),
Standard (AT), SE (AT) and Advance (AT) variant forms. All are powered by the
familiar 1.5 litre 3SZ-VE DVVT engine connected to a five-speed manual
transmission on the Standard MT and a four-speed automatic transmission on all
other variants. New to all Alza variants are redesigned instrument panel graphics, a
new-look centre cluster and a two-motion remote control key (press once to
unlock driver’s door, double-press to unlock all doors).
Externally, only the SE and Advance variants get a
new look, and this comes courtesy of a new front bumper with a larger lower
intake – which repositions the fog lamps – and front parking sensors as well as
a new twin-bar front grille and new two-tone side skirts. At the back, there’s
a new, sportier-looking rear bumper with slimmer fins for the diffuser and a
revised tailgate garnish.
Also part of the exterior updates is a new finish
for the 15-inch alloy wheels on the SE and Advance, in titanium (the S variant
retains a silver finish). Elsewhere, a new shade has been included in the body
colour palette – Granite Grey, which is exclusive to SE and Advance variants,
joins Electric Blue, Mystical Purple, Glittering Silver and Ivory White on the
list.
Inside, improvements have been made to the
air-conditioning – the flow to the third row is now better thanks to new fixed
fins between the front centre air vents, an improved evaporator and enhanced
heat-exchange piping. Standard kit on all variants include front fog lamps, a rear
spoiler, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, solar and security window film and
reverse sensors.
In terms of updates, the Standard and SE variants
get a new audio system with USB and Bluetooth functionality, while the Advance
variant gets dressed with new-design leather seats and also features a
roof-mounted monitor and an Android-based touch-screen multimedia system with
Smart Link, Bluetooth, navigation and reverse camera functions.
On the safety front, the four-star ASEAN NCAP safety
rated Alza still features dual front airbags and Isofix child seat points in
the middle row. Previously reserved for the SE and Advance models, ABS with
Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and brake assist has been made
standard across the range.
The 2018 Perodua Alza facelift range is priced at:
- Alza Standard (MT) – RM 51,490
- Alza Standard (AT) – RM 54,290
- Alza SE (AT) – RM 56,890
- Alza Advance (AT) – RM 62,690
All prices are on-the-road without insurance, and
the Alza comes with a five-year/150,000 km warranty, whichever comes first.
The automaker has also for the first time introduced
a range of unique GearUp accessories for the Alza, and items include exterior
cosmetic add-ons, quilted seat covers and sun shades. The order books are now
open for the 2018 Perodua Alza, which hit showrooms nationwide in stages
beginning September 6.
