Porsche
connoisseurs know that the 935 represents an important chapter in the
automaker’s racing history, which is why different examples often fetch 7-digit
sums on the used car market. However, as cool as they may be, the Porsche 935s
cannot be driven on public roads. That’s not the case with the example pictured
below, though, as it’s street legal, and packs a very powerful engine beneath
that beautiful skin.
The car is the work
of DP Motorsport, but didn’t start life as a 935. In fact, it used to be a 1995
Porsche 911 Turbo (965) before the conversion, powered by a turbocharged
3.3-liter engine. The unit was massaged to deliver 450 PS,
although the tuner hasn’t provided any numbers for the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration and top speed.
Besides fiddling
with the powertrain, DP Motorsport installed an adjustable sport suspension by
H&R and what they call an “adequate wheel-tire combination”, which consists
of 9×18-inch front and 12.5×18-inch rear wheels, with 245/40 and 335/30 tires,
respectively.
The stunning design
that makes it look like a Porsche 935 for the road is being continued inside,
where it benefits from fine leather in classic grey with black inserts,
three-spoke steering wheel with airbag, bucket seats with racing harness and
roll-over bar, among others.
DP Motorsport says
the project is one-of-a-kind and was delivered to a car dealer in Miami,
Florida, earlier this year, and prior to delivery, it welcomed yet another
upgrade, in the form of a stainless steel exhaust system. But we’d better let
you check it out for yourselves in the image gallery.
