Vauxhall’s latest entry to the hot hatch segment is the Corsa GSi, and it’s up for grabs in the United
Kingdom. Priced from £ 18,995, tax included, it arrives in
showrooms this month. It undercuts the Ford Fiesta ST, Renault Clio RS and
Volkswagen Polo GTI by £ 250, £ 1,305 and £ 2,525, respectively, although all of the aforementioned models are
more powerful.
Standard gear includes a specific GSi body kit, tinted
rear windows, carbon effect grille bar and side mirror caps, LED DRLs and
17-inch bi-color diamond-cut alloy wheels. Inside, users will be greeted by the
sporty front seats, leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, and IntelliLink
infotainment system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
For £ 1,900 more, you can have the
GSi Plus Pack, which adds 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights
with cornering function and Recaro leather seats. Based on the 210 PS Corsa VXR/OPC, the GSi, which is only available as a three-door, is powered
by a 150 PS and 220 Nm 1.4-liter four-banger.
Accelerating from 0-96 km/h takes 8.4 seconds, and flat out, it
will do 208 km/h.
The automaker states that the maximum torque is
produced between 2,750 and 4,500 rpm, and with the short-ratio six-speed manual
gearbox, which is the only option, it goes from 80-113 km/h in
fifth gear in 9.9 seconds.
