Yamaha has launched the Yamaha R15 V3.0 MotoGP
Edition in India for a price of INR 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Yamaha R15 V3.0 MotoGP
Edition features the Yamaha MotoGP factory team’s livery in the Racing Blue colour
scheme. It has a Movistar logo on the fairing, side panels and the fuel tank,
while an ENEOS logo embellishes the engine belly cover. However, unlike the
closely-styled Indonesian-spec Yamaha R15 V3.0 Movistar, the Movistar logo gets
white treatment instead of the fluorescent yellow paint. Furthermore, the
MotoGP Edition also misses out on the racing numbers of Valentino Rossi and
Maverick Vinales.
The 2018 Yamaha R15 V3.0 MotoGP Edition has no
mechanical changes. It sources power from a 155 cc liquid-cooled
single-cylinder 4-valve engine that is tuned to generate 19 bhp of maximum
power at 10,000 rpm and 15 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. The engine transfers
drive to the wheels via a six-speed gearbox. The R15 V3.0 is the first
motorcycle in its segment to come with features like a slip & assist clutch
assembly and variable valve actuation (VVA) technology.
The Yamaha R15 V3.0 takes design inspiration from
the Yamaha R1 with the faux RAM air intake, full-LED headlamps, and a sleek
tail section. The motorcycle comes with a sporty fuel tank, all-digital
instrument cluster and LED taillight as well. Metzeler Sportec M5 H-rated rear
tyre and a track-only free-flow Daytona exhaust system are available as an
accessory along with fairing and fork sliders.
The Indian-spec Yamaha R15 V3.0 features
conventional telescopic front forks in place of the USD unit. At the rear,
there's a linkage-type adjustable mono-shock. Anchorage is shouldered by a 282
mm front and a 220 mm rear disc brake, although ABS isn’t offered even as an
option. 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped with 100/80 front and 140/70 rear
tubeless tyres from MRF.
