Automakers are not
alone in their SUV frenzy; tuning companies want a piece of the action, too.
Ringbrothers, the aftermarket specialists known for their high-quality muscle
car builds, will soon reveal their first-ever SUV build, a 1972 K5 Chevrolet
Blazer.
The project will
debut at the 2018 SEMA Show that takes place between October 30 and November 2,
where last year they showed another premiere: their first pickup build, a 1956
Ford F-100 powered by a 415hp 5.0-liter Coyote V8.
Now it’s time for
the 1972 K5 Blazer to get the Ringbrothers treatment. The company keeps it
under wraps for now, but the teaser photo reveals the familiar drop-top
silhouette of the Ford Bronco’s arch-enemy. The first-generation K5 Blazer came
with a fully removable hard top, but this special example seems to do without
it.
All Ringbrothers
are willing to say about the custom K5 Blazer is that it features an LS3 V8
crate engine, custom bodywork, as well as a roll cage. All these features bring
the K5 Blazer into the 21st century, the company says – and they are pretty
strong clues we’re dealing with a restomod project.
The tuning company
will lift the veils of its 1972 K5 Blazer on October 30 at the opening of the
SEMA Show. As a reminder, this is not the first time someone stuffed an LS3 V8
into a K5 Blazer. Last year, a 1971 model powered by a 430-hp Corvette engine
fetched US$ 220,000 at a Barrett-Jackson auction.
