The 2018 Honda Amaze has been launched in the South
African market for a starting price of R 179,900. The new
model is exported to the southernmost country in Africa from Honda Cars India's
Tapukara facility in Rajasthan.
In South Africa, the 2018 Honda Amaze is available
in two trims - Trend and Comfort. Unlike the Indian version, which features a
DIGIPAD 2.0 touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto And Apple CarPlay
support in the range-topping VX variant, the South African version is available
with a four-speaker sound system only. The colour theme is in beige-black only,
but the company is offering a set of black synthetic leather seat covers as a
no-cost option.
The equipment list of the entry-level trim includes
the aforementioned audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, manual air
conditioning, electric windows, remote central locking, tilt-adjustable
multi-function steering wheel, dual front airbags, ABS and 15-inch alloy
wheels. Additionally, the Comfort trim offers automatic climate control,
electric ORVMs, fog lights and body-coloured ORVMs and door handles.
Powering the South African-spec 2018 Honda Amaze is
the 1.2-litre four-cylinder iVTEC naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces
a maximum power of 66 kW (88.5 bhp) at 6,000 RPM and a peak torque of 110 Nm at
4,800 rpm. It sends power to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission or a
CVT. The latter is available in the Comfort trim only.
