Getting a model makeover are three machines from the
2019 Ducati Scrambler family – the 2019 Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle, Ducati
Scrambler Cafe Racer and Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled. Dubbed the
“Joyvolution”, these three Scrambler models are variants on the Scrambler Icon,
which harks back to the retro bikes of the ’60s.
Still carrying the same air-cooled 803 cc V-twin –
now with black painted crankcases with brushed fins – producing 73 hp at 8,250
rpm and 67 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. The trio of Ducati retro bikes now come
with a new LED headlight with DRL, and auto-cancelling LED turn signals while
the adjustable lever clutch action has been adjusted to be softer.
Bosch two-channel cornering ABS is standard across
the range and the Scrambler Desert Sled comes with an off-road mode. Switchgear
has been redesigned to be ergonomic, making it easier for the rider to scroll
through the menus for various settings.
The Scrambler Full Throttle now comes with a
two-tone black-yellow tank, with white stripe and racing inspired passenger
seat cover and rear end. Styling on the Full Throttle is inspired by flat
trackers, with a new flat seat, lower handlebar and Termignoni dual-tailpipe
exhaust homologated for road use.
Rolling on 17-inch wheels shod with Pirelli Diablo
Rosso III rubber, the Scrambler Cafe Racer comes equipped with a radial master
brake cylinder, the same as many modern performance bikes. The new Silver Ice
Matt livery and blue frame on the Cafe Racer is a call back to the racing
Ducatis of the ’60s, notably the 125GP Desmo.
Extending the off-road prowess of the Scrambler
Desert Sled is a model specific 860 mm tall seat, mated to the reinforced
off-road frame, now painted red. The swingarm on the Desert is made from
aluminium and also specific to the model.
