Updated for next year’s riding season is the 2019
Yamaha MT-07 naked sports and priced at RM 38,288. Dubbed “Dark Attraction”, the
MT-07 is Yamaha’s middleweight bike and goes up against the Kawasaki Z650 at
approximately RM 35,609.
More of a model update than a completely new
machine, the MT-07 still carries the same 689 cc DOHC parallel-twin Crossplane
liquid-cooled power plant. Fed by EFI, the mill is good for 73.7 hp at 9,000
rpm and 68 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.
Power gets to the ground via a
six-speed gearbox and chain final drive. Tw-channel ABS is now standard for the
MT-07 with braking done by dual 282 mm brake discs in front and a single 245 mm
disc at the back. Weight for the MT-07 is claimed to be 179 kg, with fuel carried in a
14-litre tank and riders will find the 804 mm seat height to be fairly
accommodating.
Suspension settings on the MT-07 have been revised
for 2019, with the new rear shock coming with rebound damping adjustment. There
are two colour options for the 2019 Yamaha MT-07 – Race Blue, available in
October, and Matt Grey, coming in January 2019 – and a stainless steel Yamaha
disc lock will be given with every MT-07.
