Volkswagen will launch an updated Vento for MY2019
later this month. IAB has learnt that the new model will come with a new
exterior colour, refreshed interior and enhanced safety. The MY2019 updates are aimed at
injecting some freshness into the fast ageing VW Vento. On the outside, the
sedan will feature diamond-cut wheels in the Highline trim. Its colour palette
will include a new metallic blue paint shade that should be similar to the
Skoda Rapid Onyx Edition's Lapiz Blue. The interior will have a lighter colour
tone and will feature a new touchscreen infotainment system that will have the
VWConnect App.
The 2019 Volkswagen Vento will be available with
chest-level airbags for the front occupants in addition to the standard dual
front airbags. Moreover, the rear AC vents console will gain a 12V power
socket. Other than this, the list of equipment will include electric folding
and adjustable outside rear view mirrors, art leather seat upholstery, chrome
interior accents, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob and a rear
parking camera.
Mechanically, the Vento will remain entirely
unchanged. It will be available in three engine variants - 1.6-litre MPI N/A
petrol engine (105 PS/153 Nm) mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, 1.2-litre
TSI turbo-petrol engine (105 PS/175 Nm) paired with the 7-speed DSG
transmission and 1.5-litre TDI turbo-diesel (110 PS/250 Nm) engine that works
in conjunction with a 5-speed manual transmission or the 7-speed DSG
transmission.
The current VW Vento's prices range from INR 8.38 -
14.03 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2019 Volkswagen Vento will launch around Dussehra
and is likely to cost INR 10,000 more than the current model.
