Opel is planning to launch eight new or updated
models by 2020 and it appears the Insignia and Insignia Sports Tourer will be
among them. Recently snapped by spy photographers, the 2020 Insignia Sports
Tourer has a new front fascia which is hidden behind heavy camouflage. While
details are hard to make out, it appears the model will have a grille that
mimics the one used on the Astra.
Besides the updated grille, the prototype has been
equipped with new headlights which have a protruding element near the outside
edges. The wagon also has a new front bumper, but the camouflage effectively
hides the design. That being said, the bumper could have revised air intakes
and updated fog lights.
The rest of the design largely carries over, but the
prototype has revised taillights with a more three dimensional appearance. The
production model could also feature additional changes including a new rear
bumper and restyled wheels.
The pictures only reveal a few glimpses of the
interior and the photos suggest there won’t be any major changes inside. Little else is known about the car at this point,
but the company has said they are committed to “further improving its
combustion engines.” Speculation has suggested the updated Insignia could
receive some new or updated engines, possibly sourced from their new owners at
PSA. Of course, that remains unconfirmed at the moment and initial indications
suggest the Insignia will only be receiving minor updates.
