What you
see in these photos is the Supra GR racing car snapped by Carscoops photographers
near the world-famous Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit.
Interestingly, the
prototype seems to feature a production-spec dashboard. Of course, the racing
bucket seats, OMP racing steering wheel, and roll cage won’t be seen in the
road-going Supra. However, the rest of the package looks production-ready to
us.
The dashboard bears a striking resemblance to yesterday’s rendering. There’s one
exception, however: the massive floating infotainment display placed on top of
the center console. The CGI didn’t include that as there was no leaked diagram
of it. Still, this confirms that the Supra will get a central touchscreen
display after all.
Another interior
highlight is the recessed digital instrument panel in front of the driver. The
Supra also features distinct areas for the climate control and radio on the
upper center console. As for the lower center console, it integrates the
gearshift lever for the eight-speed automatic transmission and a rotary
selector for the infotainment system. The latter is most likely sourced from
the BMW Z4.
The rest of the
dashboard is still covered with a piece of cloth, but it’s not like those areas
are of particular interest anyway.
On the outside, the
Supra GR looks a lot less extreme than the GR Supra Racing Concept unveiled at
the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Factor in the production-spec interior and this
particular prototype might just be a Supra GT4 customer race car.
