Dacia has once
again called on its community to choose a limited edition model based on the
Sandero Stepway. In July, the brand challenged young designers via the
Creapills platform to come up with new looks for the jacked-up hatchback. Three
of the proposals made it to the final and were presented to the Dacia community
at the Paris Auto Show on October 2. All the public had to do was choose one of
the three projects by voting on the Internet and at the show.
More than 100,000
people voted online and at the Paris Auto Show, and Flora Jammes’ Escape design
emerged as a winner, with nearly 38,000 votes. The designs of the other two
finalists (Aurélie Abric and Pierre Lancien) tied for second place.
As a result, Flora
Jammes, the co-creator of a collective called Automne Studio, will see her
project on the streets soon. Dacia will build the Sandero Stepway Escape
limited edition model in a production run of 400 units that will be available
in France by the end of 2019.
The winning model
debuted in front of the public on October 14, the last day of the Paris Auto
Show. The car features “Escape” graphics on the bonnet and B-pillars, a unique
roof design, and interrupted white stripes on the mirror caps. It also gets
particular “Stepway” lettering on the front doors.
Dacia didn’t show
any photos of the interior, so we wouldn’t expect any significant changes
compared to the regular model.
