Along with the Porsche 911, the original Ford
Mustang is hands down one of restomod experts’ most favorite cars. As one of the leading Mustang
restomod specialists, Orlando-based Revology Cars has shown some impressive
skills over the years. We’re glad to say its latest reproduction 1968 Mustang
2+2 Fastback makes no exception. To mark the fact that it’s their first ’68
model, Revology has given the car plenty of goodies inside and out.
Chief among them is the hand-crafted interior
finished in the same Italian leather used by Ferrari. Alongside the seats,
almost everything is wrapped in the soft material. That includes the steering
wheel, center console, dashboard, door panels, headliner, and trunk area. Even
the wool floor mats’ edges are leather.
The cabin also features Flat Cut Walnut trim on the
door cards, center console and dashboard for an old-school ambiance. Since this
is a restomod project, Revology Cars has modernized the ’68 Mustang as well.
New features include keyless entry and push-button start, LED instrument and
interior lighting, and an optional 7-inch touchscreen head unit from Pioneer.
The car also features power-assisted windows, seats, steering, and brakes.
By now you must have noticed the modern gearshift
lever. It operates an electronically-controlled Ford 6R80 six-speed automatic
transmission. Revology Cars claims the gearbox offers quick, smooth shifts and
excellent fuel economy. Purists need not despair, though: a six-speed manual is
also offered.
The gearbox is hooked to a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 known
from the current Mustang GT that ensures plenty of muscle is available. The
engine pumps out 460 hp with the manual and 435 hp with the automatic. As for
handling, you should be in good hands thanks to the double wishbone suspension
and power rack and pinion steering. he braking system also sees
upgrades thanks to the standard four-wheel discs with ventilated rotors and
four-piston calipers. A Performance Brake Package with larger hardware is
optional.
Moving on to the exterior, Revology opted for subtle
changes. After all, what is there to improve on a classic Mustang Fastback?
Modifications include all-LED lights (when the optional LED headlights are
specced), door handle courtesy lamps, and a Borla exhaust system. This beautiful Highland Green
example is going to a customer in Japan, but you can spec one as well to suit
your exact tastes. You just need to have at least US$ 180,680 to spare.
