Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has announced that
it is now opened the order books for the facelifted Hyundai Tucson ahead of an
official launch by the end of October. Two variants of the SUV will be offered
– 1.6L Turbo and 2.0L Elegance – with prices expected to start from RM 123,888
on-the-road excluding insurance but with a five-year/300,000 km warranty and
three-year/50,000 km free service.
Visual changes as part of the facelift include a new
front bumper and redesigned LED headlamps. The brand’s signature Cascading
Grille has also been made more angular than before, while the rear taillights
are shaped a little differently and sport new graphics within them, and there
are 17-inch wheels (some items are found only on the Turbo variant).
On the interior, the top portion of the dash is new
and accommodates a seven-inch display for the infotainment system. The air-con
vents are also of a new design because of the new setup but the centre stack
below it remains unchanged.
As for the engines, the 1.6 litre T-GDI unit in the
turbo model makes 177 PS and 265 Nm of torque, which is the same as the
pre-facelift model we have now, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic
transmission. The non-turbo variant gets a 2.0 litre Nu MPi mill with 155 PS
and 192 Nm, with a six-speed automatic being the likely pairing.
