London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) has announced it will launch the TX eCity in Paris, France, in 2019. The exact date will be announced at a later time, after the negotiations between LEVC and the favored importer conclude, but it’s scheduled for the first half of next year.

Nonetheless, that’s expected to be mere routine, as the TX eCity has already been approved by local authorities to be used throughout the city as a working taxi. The vehicle is expected to contribute to Paris’ air quality, which will join other European cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg and Oslo with green taxis on their streets.

The TX eCity has an electric motor rated at 150 PS and 255 Nm of torque. It’s powered by a 31 kWh Li-Ion battery, which allows it to travel for up to 128 km on electricity alone.

Acting as a range extender is a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, which is connected to the battery and contributes to an overall range of up to 643 km. In the United Kingdom, the base TX eCity starts from £ 55,599, with the plug-in taxi grant, which is a steep price for a cab. In its defense, though, it does come with a 9-inch infotainment system, Wi-Fi connectivity, panoramic glass roof, intercom and a host of driving assistance systems, including autonomous emergency braking.
