The Royal Enfield Classic 350 Gun Metal Grey is now
available with the safety net of dual-channel ABS. The new Classic 350 Gun
Metal Grey has been priced at INR 1.80 lakh (on-road), and the motorcycle has
started to arrive in the showrooms.
Apart from the addition of ABS, specifications
remain identical to the standard motorcycle. A 346cc, single-cylinder,
4-stroke, Twinspark, air-cooled engine appears on the ABS equipped model. The
motor is tuned to deliver maximum power output of 19.8 bhp at 5,250 rpm and 28
Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm, and is mated to a five-speed gearbox. A 280mm single disc with a two-piston calliper at
the front and a 240mm single disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear
provide the stopping power. The wire-spoke wheels are wrapped in MRF sourced
90/90-19 section tyre at the front and a 110/90-18 unit at the back.
At the front are 35mm convention telescopic forks
with 130mm of travel while at the rear are twin, gas charged shock absorbers
with 5-step adjustable preload and 80mm of travel. Other Royal Enfield
motorcycles available with ABS at this time are Signals 350 (limited edition),
Himalayan, Himalayan Sleet, Classic 500, Classic 500 Desert Storm, Classic 500
Stealth Black and Classic 500 Chrome.
The Government of India has set April 1, 2019, as
the deadline for manufacturers to equip their complete product portfolio (125cc
and above) with ABS and (below 125cc) with CBS. Meanwhile, Royal Enfield is
gearing up to extend its motorcycle lines with the launch of the 650 Twins. The
new Interceptor INT 650 and Continental GT 650 are expected to be launched in
the Indian market by mid-November 2018.
