Taiwanese two-wheeler brand, Kwang Yang Motor Co
(KYMCO) and Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Twenty Two Motors have
announced a new partnership. Both brands have agreed to share knowledge,
technology, and expertise to create premium electric mobility architectures in
the country.
The two-wheeler brands have also unveiled their
first product for the Indian market, the Flow electric scooter. The electric scooter will be
equipped with 'Ionex' technology developed by KYMCO. The new removable Ionex
battery can be fully charged within an hour at the charging point network or
easily swapped with a rented battery. The batteries are claimed to be
water-proof and are installed in the footboard. The upgraded Flow will have a fixed
reserve battery on board, which will be fully charged by the removable battery.
Based on the same platform as the KYMCO Many, the
Flow gets conventional styling and can easily mix in the traffic of existing
range of scooters in the Indian market. Up front, the Flow features a full LED
headlight. The front blinkers are placed on the apron. The round headlight and
rearview mirrors give the scooter a retro look. Behind the headlight is a
digital, compact instrument console.
The left side of the switchgear includes a Pass
light button, high- and low-beam switch, turn signal controller and horn. The
right side gets a hazard light switch, light switch, and self-start button.
Close inspection reveals two brake oil reservoirs. The Flow comes with disc
brakes on both ends.
The sides get a clean look with the pillion
footrests, in the closed position, running flush with the bodywork. Chrome
finished Flow logo can be seen on the side panel. The dual tone saddle looks
spacious enough to accommodate two adults comfortably. The pillion rider gets a
body coloured grab-rail. With the batteries tucked in the footboard, the
underseat storage gets massive capacity.
The upcoming electric scooter will be available at
the Twenty Two KYMCO Experience Store in New Delhi from early 2019, followed by
Gurgaon, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Pune and Bangalore soon afterward.
