Ford is launching the updated Edge in Europe. The facelifted Ford Edge claims to be the company’s “most technologically advanced SUV ever”, featuring a wide range of driver assistance systems and an updated lineup that includes the Titanium, ST-Line and Vignale trim levels.

Ford’s latest SUV model uses a biturbo 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel four-cylinder engine with 234 hp in its range-topping version, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and the company’s Intelligent all-wheel drive system.

Customers will be also offered two more options in the diesel-only engine department: a base 147 hp version of the 2.0-liter EcoBlue unit that drives the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic and a 187 hp version of the same engine with a six-speed manual and all-wheel drive.

Highlights of the facelifted Ford Edge include the Active Cruise Control with the new Stop&Go feature; the system can bring the vehicle to a complete halt in stop-start traffic and automatically pull away if the stopping duration is less than 3 seconds. The new Active Cruise Control also keeps the car centered in its lane and can operate at speeds of up to 200km/h.

Also new is the Evasive Steering Assist system, designed to operate both in city and highway driving conditions, using a radar and a camera to detect slower-moving and stationary vehicles ahead and providing steering support to the driver in order to execute a collision-avoiding manoeuvre.

Adaptive Front Lighting System, Blind Spot Information System, Glare-Free High Beam, Intelligent Speed Limiter, Lane Keeping Alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Traffic Sign Recognition are just some of the new Ford Edge’s safety systems.

The interior comes with Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment system with connected features, a wireless charging pad, an optional B&O sound system with 12 speakers and a new configurable digital instrument cluster, among other.

If you want the sportiest Edge available in Europe, then the ST-Line is as good as it gets, as the fully-fledged ST model isn’t expected to reach the region. The Euro-spec Ford Edge ST-Line comes with body-colored lower door, wing, and side moldings, 20-inch alloys, partial leather seats and a sports suspension.

The new Edge Vignale continues on its role as the most luxurious of the range, featuring bespoke chrome-finished fog lamp surrounds, a signature Vignale front grille, 20-inch polished alloys, quilter leather upholstery with tuxedo-style stitching, as well as leather instrument cluster, armrest and storage console.
