Ford has unveiled the Ranger Storm concept at the
Sao Paolo International Motor Show in Brazil, and this one is a study exploring
customisation options for the pick-up in a variety of ways. The Storm is based on a top-of-the-line
Limited variant of the T6, which is equipped with a 3.2 litre five-cylinder
Duratorq TDCi mill offering 197 hp and 470 Nm, paired with a 6R80 six-speed
automatic transmission, and gives it a rugged makeover.
Add-ons include a snorkel, side steps and silver
roof rails, and visual changes include a black front grille with Storm
lettering done in large print and two silver C-shaped outlines at the borders,
which the automaker says simulates claws. The hood also features two graphic
track outlines, and there are also double fog lights with frames that replicate
the honeycomb latticework of the grille.
The study features a two-tone exterior – the body is
painted in a shade called Tuscany Red, and contrast is provided by black on the
front grille, cladding and wheel arches. The black treatment also finds its way
on to the door handles, side mirror caps as well as the snorkel and the 17-inch
multi-spoke alloys, which are wrapped with Pirelli MTR Scorpion 285/70 profile
tyres.
The rear tailgate is also finished in black,
complete with a silver Storm logo and a 4×4 Off Road inscription, and there’s
also Storm badging on the lower front door cladding. The black/silver rear bar
design on this one is integrated with the roof rails.
