Nissan unveiled the Frontier Sentinel concept
pick-up truck for the 2018 São Paulo Motor Show. Here, the concept has been
outfitted to support ‘rescue missions in all types of Brazilian terrain’,
according to Nissan.
The Frontier Sentinel features an equipment list
which includes a pair of battery packs from the Nissan Leaf to provide
auxiliary power, and the cargo bed has been adapted to accommodate the
batteries. This also includes a set of drawers for equipment comprising gloves,
flashlights, helmets, ropes, axes, toolboxes and more.
Meanwhile, the cargo bed cover doubles as a launch
and landing pad for a drone, and a strengthened roll-bar spans the width of the
cargo bed, which offers two power outlets in addition to the rescue equipment
stored inside. Rolling stock for the Frontier Sentinel are 16-inch wheels, shod
in 285/75R16 tyres.
The Frontier Sentinel also gets the more common
range of go-further, off-roading modifications, which include a snorkel for
deep-water crossings, while a roof-mounted lighting system provides
illumination in the depths of the wilderness. Inside, the Frontier Sentinel
concept gets Electric Yellow trim for its dashboard and centre console, sharing
the same shade of yellow on the seat trim and stitching.
The bold colour scheme was inspired by the Brazilian
hyacinth macaw, a parrot that is native to central and eastern South America,
giving rise to the colour Thunder Blue that is used here on the Frontier
Sentinel concept.
