Gaadiwaadi reports that Maruti Suzuki India Ltd
(MSIL) is working on a sporty 6-seater version of the second-gen Ertiga that
will be sold exclusively through the Nexa retail chain. The purported flagship
variant will feature two captain seats in every row and carry several styling
enhancements to look more premium than the regular versions. MSIL has not
provided guidance to the media on future Ertiga variants.
It is being said that the 6-seater version of the
Maruti Ertiga will feature a sporty body kit that will comprise prominent
bumper diffusers, bold side skirts, stylish alloy wheels, body graphics, LED
projector headlamps, and an auto-dimming IRVM. Moreover, the new model will be
available with new colour choices.
Certainly Maruti would not do a cross version of the
Ertiga as sales for this type of variant extension does not have an exciting
projection. A report last year spoke of the second variant of the Ertiga as the
'YHB derivative,' and the definition or concept of the variant could have
changed seeing the dull response to the Honda BR-V and the Renault Lodgy
Stepway, from that of a cross-type vehicle to that of a premium, avant-garde
variant.
On the inside, the new flagship version of the
Maruti Ertiga will offer contrast stitching and a new trim. The overall styling
could draw influence from the Ertiga Sport concept shown at the GIIAS (Gaikindo
Indonesia International Auto Show) in August 2018.
The rumoured model will be sold only with the K15B
1.5-litre petrol engine that outputs 104.7 PS of maximum power and 130 Nm of
peak torque. The gasoline motor offers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of
19.34 km/l with a 5-speed manual transmission and 18.69 km/l with a 4-speed
automatic unit.
