has posted a spy image of an uncamouflaged second-gen BMW X4 from around
Chennai. The coupe version of the BMW X3 will launch in India in 2019. The
second-gen BMW X4 is 4,752 mm long, 1,918 mm wide, and 1,621 mm tall. Compared
to the earlier generation, the model is 81 mm longer, 37 mm wider, and 3 mm
lower. Its wheelbase, at 2,864 mm, is 54 mm longer. Highlights of the design
include the sporty fastback silhouette, short overhangs, and hexagonal wheel
arches.
Highlights of the
equipment list include a 12-inch virtual instrument cluster, a full-colour
head-up display with +70% higher projection area, 10.25-inch touchscreen
infotainment system with gesture control, three-zone automatic climate control,
and Vernasca leather upholstery.
Internationally,
the X4 is available with seven engine variants. India, however, is likely to
receive the xDrive20d model, which is propelled by the locally assembled
2.0-litre turbo-diesel oil-burner that outputs a maximum power of 190 hp at
4,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 400 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm. The motor
comes mated to a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission. AWD is standard.
The second-gen BMW
X4 has a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.30, which is 10% lower than that of the
earlier iteration (In picture - 2018 BMW X4 M40d at 2018 Geneva Motor Show). The
second generation BMW X4 will come to India via the CKD route, with the
assembly taking place at the company's Chennai facility. The new model will
lock horns with the Mercedes GLC Coupe and the Range Rover Evoque, and is
expected to cost around INR 65 lakh (ex-showroom).
