Force Motors has launched the Gurkha in a new
‘Xtreme’ grade, for a price of INR 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The
range-topper sports a more powerful engine and a new transfer case.
The Force Gurkha Xtreme employs the Mercedes-Benz OM
611 derived 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 140 bhp and 321 Nm of torque.
The transmission is a 5-speed unit derived from the Mercedes-Benz G-32. For
better off-roading, the Xtreme grade comes with a new low-range transfer case
and a new live rigid front axle.

The Gurkha Xtreme is available in only the 3-door
version that seats six people. It measures 3,992 mm in length, 1,820 mm in
width and 2,075 mm in height. Force Motors has optimally tuned the front and
rear suspension for enhanced ride and handling. Compared to the Xpedition
grade, the Xtreme grade offers a better approach angle, departure angle and
ramp over angle, measured at 44°, 40° and 30° respectively. The off-roader
offers a ground clearance of 210 mm and a water wading depth of 550 mm.
The Force Gurkha Xtreme can negotiate gradients up
to 40° in Low 4x4. Mechanical front and rear differential locks are standard. The Force Gurkha range now
comprises three grades: Xpedition, Xplorer and Xtreme.
