Volkswagen has dropped the SE and SE Nav trim levels
of the Golf in the United Kingdom and replaced them with the new Match Edition. Offered in hatchback, estate and
SV body styles, the Match Edition has an MSRP of £ 20,510,
£ 22,385 and £ 22,745, respectively.
With the added gear, Volkswagen says the Golf Match
Edition provides savings of over £ 400 for the Estate, and £ 300 for the SV.
The new trim level comes with 16-inch ‘Woodstock’
alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, front fog lights and Discover Navigation as
standard and, according to the car firm’s UK chief of Marketing, Geraldine
Ingham, “strengthen the Golf’s already compelling appeal”.
Volkswagen is offering a choice of different engine
options for the Match Edition: the 115 PS 1.0-liter TSI and
130 PS and 150 PS 1.5-liter TSI petrol
units, as well as the 115 PS 1.6-liter TDI and 150 PS 2.0-liter TDI diesels.
Apart from that, the Golf GTI Performance and Golf R
are both getting standard keyless entry in five-door versions, as well as a
rear view camera, lane assist and Dynamic Chassis Control.
