McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has just finished
working on a special three-car retailer collection regarding the 720S Coupe,
commissioned by McLaren Brussels in honor of the automaker’s first F1 victory
at the Belgian Grand Prix in 1968.
Claiming victory back then was none other than Bruce
McLaren, behind the wheel of a McLaren M7A, boasting a signature Papaya Orange
livery. He became only the third driver to win a Grand Prix in a car of his own
design.
Each of these three McLaren 720S Spa 68 Collection
models is wearing an MSO Bespoke Anniversary Orange paint, reminiscent of the
previously-mentioned livery worn by the 1968 Formula 1 race car. Other features
include a silver outline of the 14 km Spa-Francorchamps track (as
it used to look in 1968). The track diagram can be found not just by the rear
wheel arch, but also inside, embroidered onto the headrest.
Furthermore, there are extended Carbon Fiber Sill
Covers from the MSO Defined range, inscribed with: “1st McLaren F1 victory
Belgian Grand Prix 9th June 1968 – Bruce McLaren”. You even get an Anniversary
Orange ignition key, featuring a silver “Spa 68” text, and a dedicated “1 of 3”
plaque.
In contrast to the bright orange bodywork are the
MSO Bespoke Satin Black 5 twin-spoke wheels. More contrast can then be found
inside, where McLaren Orange stitching covers the seats, door panels, center
console – pretty much most of the cabin.
Potential customers who are interested in purchasing
one of these special collection 720S models really need to hurry, as two of
them have already been bought, leaving only one example available.
