It looks like we didn’t need to wait long to view
the fifth-generation Renault Clio in full, as leaked images of the B-segment
model have been posted on Instagram by cardesignworld. The hatchback is
certainly quite the looker despite its evolutionary styling approach. There’s
clear inspiration from the larger Megane IV here, most noticeably the design of
headlamps with C-shaped LED daytime running lights.
The grille is with the brand’s logo sitting prominently in the centre, with thin
chrome strips and gloss black pins – the latter is reminiscent of the latest
Kadjar. Along the sides, cues from the fourth-generation model have been
retained, including the upswept windowline, sloping roofline and decorative
trim in the lower region. The rear door handles continue to be tucked away
close to the C-pillar, which is again, another design element of the previous
model.
As for the rear, a redesigned hatch hints at a
larger aperture to the boot, while sleeker taillights feature C-shaped graphics
to match those at the front. Further down, the new bumper does away with the
horizontal strakes of the previous model for a cleaner look, while the
placement of the number plate is higher up.
These images also reveal the different trim packages
that the Clio will get, including a sporty option (likely the GT Line) that
adds on silver highlights front and rear, along with dedicated badging.
Renault has already revealed the Clio V’s interior
very recently, and as we’ve detailed, the ‘Smart Cockpit’ offers better
ergonomics and a more upmarket feel compared to its predecessor.
