With an average monthly sale of 6,212 units (between
July-December 2018), the Mahindra Bolero has been the among the most popular
UVs on sale in the country. First launched in 2000, the Bolero is essentially a
heavily reworked Armada and features a similar design theme. While it received
regular updates in the last decade of its service, it continues to look quite
plain-jane.
Mahindra Customization has come up with a jazzed-up version that looks
bolder than the stock model. Dubbed the Mahindra Bolero Limited Edition, the
modified UV carries some radical styling updates. The front-end features a
massive grille that extends to the lower half of the new bumper. The front
fascia even gets new fog lamps that carry projector fixtures, and a bonnet
scoop. The major highlight, however, comes in the form of a pair of LED cluster
assembly above that have been positioned above the headlamps.
In the side profile, the Mahindra Bolero Limited
Edition features black-painted five-spoke alloy wheels, custom-made wheel
arches, and a snorkel that features a Mahindra insignia near the air intake.
The fenders hold custom-made matte black side-scoops, while the UV even
receives custom side footsteps. At the rear, the custom-made Bolero features a
new spare wheel cover, an updated rear bumper.
Moving inside, the Mahindra Bolero Limited Edition
features a revised colour scheme. The updated dashboard carries circular aircon
vents, while the updated door pads get map pockets and bottle holders. The
cabin even gets new floor carpets and roof lining. Taking centre stage on the
new dashboard is a new MP3 player. The bucket seats have been re-upholstered
and even get foldable armrests.
Mechanically, the Mahindra Bolero Limited Edition
stays the same. It draws power from a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder twin-scroll
turbocharged oil-burner that outputs a maximum power of 70 hp and a peak torque
of 195 Nm. Moreover, the UV is even available with a 2.5-litre M2DICR
turbocharged diesel engine that offers 63 hp and 180 Nm. Both the motors come
mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
