India Yamaha Motor has launched the new-generation Yamaha FZ FI V3.0 and the Yamaha FZ-S FI V3.0, priced at INR 95,000 and INR 97,000 (both the prices are ex-showroom Delhi), respectively.

The Yamaha FZ V3.0 range receives a design overhaul with a new LED headlight along with a digital LCD instrument cluster on top of it. The motorcycle features a redesigned fuel tank with extended shrouds, an engine belly cover (FZ-S only) and a reprofiled tail section with a new single-piece aluminium grab handle. Other changes include Yamaha FZ25 sourced 17-inch alloy wheels and exhaust canister, and a single-piece seat.

The Yamaha FZ V3.0 range is available in two versions - FZ FI and FZ-S FI. While the FZ FI is available in two solid colour options (Metric Black & Racing Blue), the FZ-S FI is offered with three paint schemes (Matte Black, Dark Matte Blue and Grey & Cyan Blue). The motorcycle is underpinned by diamond-type chassis, with a redesigned rear sub-frame that should work well on the new FZ range.

Mechanically, the Yamaha FZ V3.0 range remains mostly unchanged apart from the addition of a single-channel ABS unit. The motorcycle is powered by a 149cc, SOHC fuel-injected, 2-valve, single-cylinder Blue Core motor that is tuned to produce 13.2 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 12.8 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission.

The new-generation Yamaha FZ V3.0 range will compete with the Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Honda X-Blade, and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160. The FZ range is the bestselling product from the Japanese bike maker in India with average sales of around 18,000 units every month.
