At the launch of the new Yamaha FZ V3.0 range, the
Japanese bike maker has also introduced the ABS versions of the Yamaha FZ25 and
the Yamaha Fazer 25 in India to comply with the upcoming safety guidelines.
The Yamaha FZ25 with dual-channel ABS has been
priced at INR 1.33 lakh*. On the other hand, the Yamaha Fazer 25 dual-channel
ABS variant costs INR 1.43 lakh*. Apart from the addition of the ABS unit, both
the motorcycles continue to remain unchanged. The normal non-ABS variants will
be discontinued once the new safety norms come into effect from 1 April 2018.
While the Yamaha FZ25 is a naked streetfighter, the
Fazer 25 is a sports tourer with a full-fairing and relaxed ergonomics. Both
the motorcycles are underpinned by a diamond-type chassis that offers an
excellent ride and handling package. Apart from the fairing, the Yamaha Fazer
25 also features a tall windscreen that aids its touring capabilities.
Powering both the motorcycles is a 249cc,
air-cooled, SOHC, 2-valve fuel-injected motor that is capable of churning out
20.9 PS of maximum power at 8,000 RPM and 20 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 RPM.
The engine transfers control to the wheel via a 5-speed transmission.
The Yamaha Fazer 25 and the FZ25 benefits from
features like LED headlight, TFT instrument cluster, split seats and
wide-profile tyres. The motorcycles ride on 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels,
while suspension duties are carried out by fatter telescopic front forks and a
rear mono-shock.
The Yamaha FZ25 competes with the Bajaj Pulsar NS
200, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Hero Xtreme 200R. On the other hand, the
Yamaha Fazer 25 rivals the Honda CBR250R and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200.
