The 2019 Force Trax (facelift) has been spotted
undergoing cold-weather tests in Leh by Yayaati, a reader of Cartoq. The
updated model, which should go on sale in the coming months, is said to be
powered a BSVI-compliant diesel engine. In July 2018, a heavily
camouflaged unit of the Force Trax was spotted by an IAB reader in Pune. That
said, what was being considered to be the next generation of the utilitarian
people-mover could have been the upgraded version that has been spied recently.
The 2019 Force Trax will feature new soft parts at
its front- and rear-end. The facade will offer clear lens headlamps that seem
to be bigger than the units on the current model. Even the upper grille and the
bumper should be renewed, while the fenders will likely sport a revised plastic
cladding. Like the test mule, the production model will ride on steel wheels
but with full wheel covers. The rear will feature vertically stacked tail lamps
mounted on either side of the rear door. Currently, the Trax offers
horizontally-mounted units on the rear bumper.
The most significant change will lie under the hood.
Currently, the Force Trax is powered by a BSIV-compliant 2.0-litre diesel motor
that outputs a maximum power of 67 bhp and a peak torque of 175 Nm. With the
revised version, the Pune-based company would offer a BSVI-compliant
oil burner perhaps well ahead of the 1 April 2020 deadline.
It may be noted here that other than attaining
compliance to BSVI emission norms, the 2019 Force Trax range will have to
adhere with the updated safety standards set under the Bharat New Vehicle
Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP). This will warrant the provision of ABS,
driver's side airbag, front seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensors, and high-speed
warning as a part of the standard equipment list. The carmaker is even expected
to make structural revisions to help the MUV meet the stringent norms.
