The 2019 Honda Civic, which was listed online in
India recently, will launch on 7 March. Dealer-level pre-bookings are
reportedly underway for a token amount of INR 1 lakh. Compared to the global iteration, the India-spec model features a
chrome-finished front 'wing'. The piano black finish on the international
version has been replaced with the shiny ornamentation to suit the tastes of
the Indian audience. New soft parts that the latest avatar of the Civic carries
over its immediate predecessor include an updated set of bumpers with chrome
trim, revised headlamps and a new design for the alloy wheels.
The interior of the 2019 Honda Civic brims with
premium features, including dual-zone climate control, electric sunroof, a
7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple
CarPlay, eight-way electric adjustment for the driver’s seat and a smart key
with remotely controlled ignition. The safety kit comprises a lane-watch camera
system, six airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control and Agile Handling Assist,
hill-start assist, electric parking brake with an auto-hold function, a reverse
camera, a walk-away auto-lock feature and ISOFIX child seat restraints.
The 2019 Honda Civic will be available with two
engine options - 1.8-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel. The former churns out a
maximum power of 141 PS and a peak torque of 174 Nm, while the latter outputs
120 PS and 300 Nm. The petrol motor will be mated to a CVT, while the diesel
engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The ARAI-certified
fuel economy rating is 16.5 km/l (petrol)/26.8 km/l (diesel).
The India-spec 2019 Honda Civic will be sold with
five paint options - Platinum White
Pearl, Radiant Red, Modern Steel, Lunar Silver and Golden Brown. Available in
only a fully-loaded ZX grade, it may cost somewhere between INR 18-22 lakh
(ex-showroom).
