The first-ever Mahindra XUV300 sub-compact SUV has
been launched in India, priced from INR 7.90 lakh (ex-showroom India). Bookings
are open for an amount of INR 20,000. The XUV300 is available in three
variants – W4, W6, and W8, along with an optional pack (O) for the
range-topping configurations. The Mahindra XUV300 comes equipped with two
turbocharged engines - 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and a strong turbo-diesel - that
are available across the trim levels.
The Mahindra XUV300 is a direct rival to the
incumbent Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Honda WR-V.
It is yet another attempt by the Indian carmaker to crack the sub-compact SUV
segment, after the Mahindra TUV300, which continues to remain on sale, and the
discontinued Quanto. The latest SUV is a much plusher product.

The Mahindra XUV300 has an ARAI-certified fuel
economy rating of 17 km/l (petrol)/20 km/l (diesel). The 1.2-litre
four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor produces 81 kW (110 bhp) of power at
5,000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 2,000-3,500 rpm. The 1.5-litre
turbo-diesel churns out 85.8 kW (115 bhp) at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm at
1,500-2,500 rpm. Both the engines are paired with a six-speed manual
transmission. An AMT gearbox will be introduced shortly.
Mahindra is offering the XUV300 with a decent safety
kit right from the base variant. Features like dual front airbags, ABS with
EBD, ISOFIX child-seat anchorage mounts and rear parking sensors are standard.
Utility and convenience features like an electric tailgate, multiple steering
modes and audio system with four speakers are standard as well.
The range-topping Mahindra XUV300 comes with a
best-in-segment equipment list that includes dual-zone climate control, heated
ORVMs, seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, Tire Pressure Monitoring
System (TPMS), an electric sunroof, engine start-stop, and auto-dimming IRVM.
The only place where the XUV300 lacks is the comparatively smaller boot space
capacity of 265-litre and lower ground clearance of 180 mm.
