The 2019 Honda
Civic has started reaching dealerships ahead of launch next month, images
posted by Facebook user Luv Tandon have revealed. The images show two units of
the 2019 Honda Civic, one in Radiant Red Metallic and the other in Golden Brown
Metallic. The red sample is in ‘V’ grade, while the brown car is in ‘VX’ grade.
We already know that the range-topping grade is called ‘ZX’.
The V and VX grades
feature projector headlamps instead of LED headlamps and 16-inch alloy wheels
wrapped in 215/55 R16 tyres instead of 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 215/50
R17 tyres. The V grade has a non-touch 5-inch Display Audio audio system, while
the VX grade seems to have the same 7-inch Display Audio touchscreen
infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as the ZX grade.
A few more
differences between the V and VX grades are the lack of chrome garnish on
exterior door handles, voice control and cruise control in the former. Both
grades are not equipped with Honda LaneWatch and sunroof. It’s highly likely
that they don't have several more features of the ZX grade, including power
driver's seat and side and curtain airbags.
The 2019 Honda
Civic is 4,656 mm long, 1,799 mm wide and 1,433 mm high. It has a 2,700 mm
wheelbase. Its petrol engine is the 1.8-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated unit
that produces 141 PS at 6,500 rpm and 174 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. This
engine is paired with a CVT. The diesel engine is the 1.6-litre single-turbo
unit that develops 120 PS at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. It
sends drive to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The fuel economy
rating of the Skoda Octavia rival is 16.5 km/l (petrol)/26.8 km/l (diesel).
Honda will launch
the new Civic in India on 7 March. Prices are expected to start close to INR 20
lakh (ex-showroom).
