Maruti Suzuki will give the Ignis a facelift on the 20th of this month, as per a new report from GaadiWaadi.com. The launch of the new model will follow the introduction of 1.5-litre diesel engine-powered Maruti Ciaz. The SUV-styled hatchback is likely to receive additional safety features and minor visual updates.

The 2019 Maruti Ignis (facelift) will likely carry subtle updates for the bumpers and the upper grille. Currently, the LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs are reserved for the top-spec Alpha trim, but they could be offered on the Zeta grade with the advent of the facelift. The interior is expected to receive an upholstery change and a set of standard safety features in the form of a high-speed alert, front seatbelt reminder, and reverse parking sensors. The SmartPlay infotainment unit of the top-of-the-line variant will make way for the new SmartPlay Studio unit that debuted in the new Wagon R and is available in the refreshed Baleno as well.

Mechanically, the Maruti Ignis will remain unaltered. It will continue to be propelled by the 1.2-litre K12M petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 83 bhp and a peak torque of 113 Nm. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual. The Mahindra KUV100-adversary has an ARAI-certified fuel economy rating of 20.89 km/l.
