As part of the teaser campaign of the Kamiq, Skoda’s
subcompact crossover for Europe, they released the first image of the interior.
And it’s neither blurry nor dark, as is oftentimes the case with teasers, so we
can check it out in detail. The cockpit features a tablet-like
infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard, on top of the central air
vents and A/C controls. The side air vents extend into the door panels, which
Skoda says creates a more open-space feel.
Drivers will be able to store their phones in front of the gearshift lever. Further back, we can see
buttons for the drive mode selector, automatic parking feature, parking sensors
and stop/start function. The Kamiq also features a Virtual Cockpit digital
instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch display, one of the largest in the
segment, as an option. The lost of options includes Suedia fine microfiber upholstery and
heated steering wheel, rear seats and windscreen. Also, users will come to
appreciate the ambient lighting at night, in Copper, Red or White.
The Kamiq is based on VW Group’s MQB A0 platform and
has a 2,651 mm long wheelbase, 85 mm and 91 mm longer than the Seat Arona and Volkswagen T-Cross, which opens up additional
legroom for rear passengers. Cargo space is 400 liters, and can
increase to 1,395 with the rear seats folded down.
Skoda will debut the Euro-spec Kamiq (which is a
totally different model from its Chinese namesake) at the 2019 Geneva Motor
Show on March 5, and will launch it shortly after.
