Hispano Suiza Automobilmanufaktur AG
unveiled their Maguari HS1 GTC. Looking unlike any classic Hispano Suiza’s model, the Maguari HS1 GTC
is an evolution of the previous Hispano Suiza concept that was introduced in
2010. Given the passage of time, it’s not surprising to learn the design has
been extensively modified.
The biggest changes occur up front as the production
model features a new bumper with larger air intakes and a Maguari sculpture
protruding from the center. The car has also been equipped with new headlights,
more dynamic bodywork and a more aggressive rear end.
Speaking of the latter, the Maguari HS1 GTC has a
ventilated rear fascia which resides above a center-mounted diffuser and a
four-tailpipe exhaust system. The car has also been equipped with 22- / 23-inch
center locking wheels that are backed up by a carbon ceramic braking system.
Designers paid a lot of attention to weight, so the
Maguari HS1 GTC rides on an aluminum space frame chassis which is wrapped in
carbon fiber bodywork. Despite these efforts, the car is still a little hefty
as it tips the scales at 1,780 kg.
Power comes from a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V10 engine
that produces 1,070 hp and 1,050 Nm of torque.
It is connected to a seven-speed automatic transmission which sends power to
the rear wheels. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 380 km/h.
Hispano Suiza plans to build 300 Maguari HS1 GTCs
and the first ten units will be limited editions that come with gloves, shoes,
luggage and a handbag that matches the car. Those are nice bonuses, but the
model costs a staggering US$ 2.5 million.
