The longer range Nissan Leaf Plus will arrive at US
dealers later this month with a base price of US$ 36,550. Costing US$ 6,560 more than the
standard Leaf, the Leaf Plus has a larger 62 kWh battery which enables the
model to travel up to 363 km on a single charge. This is 122 km more than the standard model and it should help to alleviate any
lingering range anxiety.
Besides the longer range, the Leaf Plus features an
upgraded powertrain that produces 214 hp and 338
Nm of torque. This is 67 hp and 19 Nm more than the
standard Leaf.
Three different trim levels will be available and
the base model has Bio Suede PET upholstery, a six-speaker audio system and an
8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
The entry-level model also has cruise control, power windows / locks and an
automatic climate control system. Rounding out the highlights are 16-inch alloy
wheels and a rearview camera.
The mid-level Leaf Plus SV starts at US$ 38,510 and it
adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, intelligent cruise control and an 8-inch
NissanConnect infotainment system with GPS navigation. The car also has an HD
radio, fog lights and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The range-topping Leaf Plus SL begins at US$ 42,550 but
it comes nicely equipped with heated leather front seats, a heated leather
steering wheel and an 8-way power driver’s seat. The model also has an
auto-dimming rearview mirror, HomeLink and a seven-speaker Bose premium audio
system. Other additions include LED headlights and heated exterior mirrors with
integrated turn signals.
The perks don’t end there as the Leaf Plus SL comes
standard with an assortment of safety systems. These include High Beam Assist,
ProPILOT Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Lane Intervention and
Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. The model also has a
Blind Spot Warning system and an Intelligent Around View Monitor.
