The United Kingdom is one of the first European
markets to announce prices for the all-new Skoda Scala compact hatchback. The Golf-sized five-door hatch
starts at £ 16,595, making it £ 2,400 cheaper than the base
five-door VW Golf S 1.0 TSI.
The Scala UK lineup is divided into three trim
levels: S, SE, and SE L. For £ 16,595 OTR, the base Scala S offers decent
standard equipment including 16-inch alloys, LED headlights, leather-wrapped
steering wheel and handbrake lever, height adjustable driver’s seat, air
conditioning, power windows, DAB digital radio and Swing infotainment system
with a 6.5-inch screen. Standard safety kit includes front head and side
airbags, Front Assist, Lane Assist, Speed Limiter, and Emergency call with
proactive services.
The mid-range Scala SE starts at £ 18,580 and adds features such as cruise control, rear parking sensors, 8-inch
touchscreen Bolero infotainment system, height adjustable passenger seat, and
an integrated umbrella.
Priced from £ 20,380, the range-topping SE
L sports an Amundsen infotainment system with a 9.2-inch glass touchscreen,
digital cockpit, automatic climate control, keyless entry with start/stop
button, color multifunction trip computer, silver Microsuede seat trim, as well
as chrome accents on the dashboard, door panels, gear and handbrake lever. On the outside, the
top-of-the-line model comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED rear
lights, dynamic indicators, and tinted rear windows.
The first Skoda based on VW Group’s MQB A0 platform
will offer three engine choices from launch (two petrol and one diesel), with
outputs ranging from 115 PS to 150 PS. An entry-level 1.0 TSI
95 PS petrol engine will arrive later in the summer for the S trim
level.
The petrol lineup consists of a turbocharged 1.0 TSI
three-cylinder with either 95 PS or 115 PS and a 1.5 TSI
turbo-four with 150 PS. The only diesel unit on offer is a 1.6 TDI
four-cylinder rated at 115 PS. Transmission choices include five- and
six-speed manual units as well as a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch that is
optional for all engines except the 1.0 TSI 95 PS. UK customers will be able to
place orders for the Skoda Scala from May, with deliveries starting in the
summer.
