Tata Motors has
released a new teaser of a model it will unveil at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show
(5-17 March). It is being widely reported that this is of the Tata H7X concept.
The teaser image shows the Tata H7X concept featuring black front seats with
teal blue stitching, between which there’s a transmission tunnel housing a
rotary gear selector, a hazard warning switch and an Electric Parking Brake
(EPB). A gloss black panel covers most of the transmission tunnel, and there
are thin chrome stripes as well, giving the interior a rich look. The selected
gear is displayed in teal blue, a colour generally found in EVs.
Tata Motors’ (PV)
Marketing Head Vivek Srivatsa had told IAB at the end of last year that the
Harrier-derived 7-seat SUV will look “sufficiently different”. With a teaser
image of the concept it will evolve from, the H7X, Tata Motors showed
yesterday how so. The three-row C-SUV, which will arrive as a separate product,
won’t have a coupe-style silhouette or a rakish back glass like the Harrier.
The production
version of the Tata H7X will come with a more powerful version of the 2.0-litre
Kryotec engine likely called ‘Kryotec170’. This engine, also an FCA-made
MultiJet II unit basically, is expected to deliver 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque.
Transmission choices will include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. There’s
no word on the availability of an all-wheel drive system.
Tata Motors will
likely launch the production version of the H7X concept in the fourth quarter
of the calendar year. It may price the new flagship SUV from around INR 15 lakh
(ex-showroom).
