Aston Martin has started putting together the DB4 GT
Zagato Continuation models that build on the heritage of the original cars and,
just like them, are being made by hand. The brand’s Heritage Division
headquarters in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, UK, is responsible for
completing the first body of the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation. Eighteen more will
follow and all of them will use flat sheets of 1.2 mm thick aluminum,
created using techniques that were common nearly six decades ago, albeit with a
modern twist.
Like the original cars, the reborn DB4 GT Zagato
will be powered by an inline-six engine with two spark plugs per cylinder. The
380 horsepower produced will be channeled to the rear axle via a four-speed
manual transmission and limited-slip differential.
Each of the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation cars will be
offered with a new DBS GT Zagato as part of the DBZ Centenary Collection. The
special DBS has a striking design and a powerful 5.2-liter V12 under the hood.
It produces 725 PS and 900 Nm of torque and is
matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The DBS GT Zagato has a top
speed of 339 km/h and sprints to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
Deliveries of the DBS GT Zagato will kick off in Q4
of 2020, whereas the DB4 GT Zagato Continuation will be shipped from the fourth
quarter of this year. Pricing for the “bundle” starts from £ 6 million (US$ 7.9
million/€ 7 million) in the UK, before taxes.
