Despite the fact that these prototypes are shrouded in a thick layer of camouflage, the silhouette of the Aurus is easily recognizable given its large shape and size, as well as wheel design. The following footage comes courtesy of Yakunin_077, on location at the Red Square.

With the Aurus Senat sold out for both 2019 and 2020, it will surely be a while before this new convertible version finds its way into the hands of customers. The good news is that a new plant is scheduled to open late next year in Tatarstan, which should enable Aurus to increase production to 5,000 units per year.

As for what we feel is safe to assume in regards to the Senat’s convertible variant, it will feature the same standard safety tech as the four-door model, meaning adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking and a collision avoidance system with pedestrian recognition tech.

Meanwhile, power should come from the same hybridized 598 PS V8 engine, which also produces 880 Nm of torque in the Sedan, enabling it to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in roughly six seconds flat. Performance shouldn’t be that much different in the Convertible. Then there’s pricing. The Aurus Senat costs upwards of 10 million rubles (US$ 152,000), so the Convertible will likely set you back a little bit more.
