This Nissan
GT-R hillclimb car from Franco Scribante Racing might just be the craziest
thing you’ve seen on four wheels. The following GT-R is set to make
its competitive debut at the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb in South Africa at the
start of May and looks absolutely wild. The racing outfit hasn’t detailed all
of the events which the car will compete in but it’s bound to turn heads.
The first thing which stands out about this Japanese
racer is the wacky aerodynamics package. At the front, there is a carbon fiber
splitter to deliver huge amounts of downforce. While big splitters are usually
enough for most race cars, Franco Scribante Racing decided to equip the
vehicle’s front end with a towering wing, the type you’d usually expect to find
at the rear of a race car. It may look strange but it’s bound to stick the
vehicle’s front end to the pavement in any high-speed corner.
We don’t yet have details about the vehicle’s
powertrain but it’s pretty obvious that the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged
six-cylinder powering the R35 GT-R has been extensively modified and includes
new piping and carbon fiber parts. We’d be shocked if the car didn’t have at
least 1000 hp on tap.
The rear of the Nissan is just as remarkable as the
front and incorporates a swan neck-style wing similar in size to what you’ll
find on the McLaren Senna GTR. There is also a crazy diffuser at the rear. It’s
unclear how much downforce the race car produces but we expect it to set truly
blistering times at any hillclimb events it competes in.
