The 2019 Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary has proven to be a major hit for the Japanese car maker, with the 500 units allotted to the US market selling out in just four hours after its debut at this year’s Chicago Auto Show.

Mazda USA says that there are hundreds of fans placed on a waitlist as a result, forcing them to get an additional 143 examples out of the 3,000 MX-5 30th Anniversary Editions available worldwide. The new total allocation to the US market rises to 643 cars.


The new 30th Anniversary Edition of the 2019 Mazda MX-5 comes fitted with a set of 17-inch Rays ZE40 dark gunmetal forged alloys, orange Brembo front brake calipers and Nissin rear brake calipers, exclusive Recaro seats and the 181 hp 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine.

Other standard features include the exclusive Racing Orange paint finish, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a nine-speaker Bose audio system and orange piping over a leather/alcantara combo inside. The 2019 Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition is priced from US$ 34,995, with the company to notify customers currently on the waitlist of the newly available inventory.
