While the 2020 BMW
X1 broke cover just a few hours ago, the company has already started taking
orders for it in the UK, where customer deliveries will start mid-July. Offered
in four distinct trim levels called the SE, Sport, xLine and M Sport, the
restyled X1 has a £ 28,795 starting price in sDrive18i spec.
Getting the 192 PS engine instead of the 140 PS powering the entry-level model means paying at least £ 31,935 Meanwhile, the sDrive18d diesel, with 150 PS, will set you back at least £ 30,545. The aforementioned
versions are all front-wheel drive, but from £ 32,045, you
could get the xDrive18d 4WD model, with its 150 PS diesel
engine, or the 190 PS xDrive20d, from £ 34,595.
Next March, the
lineup will be completed with the addition of the X1 xDrive25e plug-in hybrid,
which will combine the TwinPower Turbo engine, with 125 PS,
driving the front wheels, with a 95 PS electric motor that will
power the rear axle. The 9.7 kWh battery will help it drive on electricity for
more than 50 km, BMW claims.
Aside from its
updated styling, equipment and the further addition of the PHEV model, the 2020
X1 comes with other highlights too, such as the revised navigation system with
the standard 8.8-inch or optional 10.25-inch displays. The full-color head-up
display is available as an option, whereas the Lighting Package, with freely
selectable color tones, is standard in the xLine and M Sport, and optional in
the SE and Sport.
Users will also
enjoy the BMW Connected App, which is described as “the next stage of in-car
personalization”. This feature enables the transfer of content from the
smartphone to the infotainment system and when coupled to the standard Remote
Services, the phone can be used to lock or unlock the doors, locate the car and
check certain aspects.
