Bentley has announced that its third generation
Flying Spur will be unveiled on Tuesday, June 11 at 11:00 BST (6:00 AM EST),
and in order to mark the occasion, they’ve also released footage from a
high-speed test. The video even provides us with the car’s soundtrack, although we
don’t know which engine powers that particular prototype. It’s been reported
that the all-new Flying Spur will be available in at least three powertrain
configurations.
This will also be Bentley’s first ever model to
feature All-Wheel Steering, which is said to enhance both stability at cruising
speeds, as well as agility around town. During high-speed maneuvers, the system
steers the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels, aiding overtaking
and lane-changing.
Also for the first time ever, power will be supplied
only to the rear wheels in typical road conditions. However, if any slip is
detected, the all-wheel drive system will send power to the front wheels
automatically, for optimum traction.
Another novelty for the Flying Spur is its Dynamic
Ride system, which changes suspension stiffness on-demand in order to minimize
body roll, leaving occupants feeling posh and secure at all times. Since its announcement, we’ve
learned that the upcoming Flying Spur will also boast 3D textured leather
upholstery and a retractable hood ornament.
