We can safely say that the all-new
G06 X6 will look sort of like a combination of a 2019 X5 and a 2019 X4. The
latter’s rear end design is definitely mirrored here on the X6, which ditches
its predecessor’s massive taillights in favor of considerably thinner ones,
something BMW is apparently interested in doing for some of its all-new models.
Recently, Carscoops spy photographers caught a couple of
G06 X6 prototypes undergoing tests in Germany, with one of them spotted parked
next to a bright red 2019 X6 M, allowing us to draw quite a few parallels. Aside from the different
taillight design, the newer X6 also has a smaller trunk lid design, and is
clearly missing the old model’s pronounced shoulder line, which made the
latter’s rear fenders look more chunky.
We won’t be comparing the bumper design or the wheel
design, as the old X6 in question is the M version, which automatically makes
it more visually-aggressive than any of the two prototypes. Speaking of which,
the other all-new X6 prototype was spotted on the Nurburgring and can be seen
wearing a little less camouflage – though nothing to write home about.
We’ve also been given our first glimpse of the G06
X6’s cabin, which of course mirrors what’s going on in the latest X5. In other
words, it has the same steering wheel design, same dashboard and center console
design, same 12.3-inch infotainment display and gauge cluster display.
Meanwhile, features such as ambient LED lighting,
heated/cooled cup holders, 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround
Sound System and loads of active safety tech will also be present.
As for its engine range, the all-new 2020 BMW X6
will be available with a mixture of gasoline and diesel engines, spearheaded by
xDrive50i and X6 M50d versions. Additional variants will join the range in the
future, such as a plug-in hybrid model and of course the high-performance X6 M.
